The Paradise Philosophy
The Paradise Philosophy

We want our cottages to be a home away from home for you. Therefore, ALL have very well-equipped kitchens, with dishwashers and all the small appliances that you would expect, plus many that you might not expect, such as electric ice cream machines, crock pots, food processors and mixers. All properties have spices [the two island properties specialize in exotic Indian spices} for you to use, woks, lots of dishes and glasses, and a large assortment of pots and pans, measuring cups for baking etc. All have Napoleon gas grills and we provide the propane. All have screened in porches, with the exception of the Badour Island Compound, in which the inside is akin to a screened in porch when the windows are open. All of our properties have outdoor [hot] showers and large decks with panoramic views. All the properties have drinkable water throughout. All our properties have WIFI [high speed wireless, DSL], and any phone calls to Canada or the US are on us. All but Isaacs Acres have a washing machine and dryer. All are heated [baseboard heaters] and the two island properties also have wood burning stoves. All but Maple Grove have fire pits. All the cottages are airconditioned [for the 2010 season], except Badour, which does have an airconditioned bedroom [with a private covered porch and a skylight] in the guest cottage loft. All but Badour have DVD’s. Only Oakshore has satellite TV.
We also want you to be able to enjoy the lake, so that all our properties come with a canoe and a kayak. The two island properties also share a paddleboat and an additional kayak. You will find a refrigerator down at the dock, at the three properties with steps to traverse, and the docks are all comfortable to hang out at. The properties have hammocks and/or [hanging] swinging chairs, and lots of cushioned outdoor furniture to sit on. All our properties are very sunny, and have lots of windows and glass door through which you can see the lake. We provide life jackets at all the properties [but you should bring proper fitting ones for babies and toddlers], safety kits for the boats [which must be used in any boat], and tubes. Badour has the greatest assortment of water toys.
Since home away from home has to include your pets, [house trained] pets are allowed in all properties, with just a $100 additional charge for the week.
Oakshore is our newest addition, renovated with luxury and space in mind, with the largest bedrooms of any of the properties, and the only property with king size beds. The bathrooms in the cottage have Italian tile flooring, there are 3 bathrooms, one a 4 piece with a tiled shower. Everything is new: the furnishings including the beds, the dishes and glasses etc. The kitchen is equipped with a built in self cleaning convection oven and glass cooktop. The Kitchenaid stainless steel refrigerator is “smart”- it beeps if you need to raise the temperature. Oakshore has the largest TV of any of our properties, and is the only one equipped with satellite TV. It has the largest decks, both at the cottage and at the dock, and lots of space in back for children to play and/or to park as many cars as you will need.
For a vacation with extended family, the Badour Island compound has the most space [ 2.5 acres] and the most to do. It has a half size basketball court [lit at night], a ping pong table, a punching bag, stationary bicycle, knock hockey etc. It has a guest cottage and romantic treehouse. There are two large refrigerators [plus a small one at the dock and a small one in the guest cottage] and an additional large freezer so you can bring everything with you and not have to make alot of trips to the store. There is no tv [by design], which increases interaction between family members, especially the children. The Badour Island Compound can be rented along with Isaacs Acres to accomodate 19 people! It has been rented for corporate retreats. The shaded [by trees] basketball court is also a great place for doing yoga, if that is your thing.
